National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets - 2007

Ben Gates (played by Nick Cage) is back again in the sequel to National Treasure, exploring the world and discovering some seriously "monumental" archaeological finds.

The Egyptologist (and conspiracy theorist) inside me absolutely LOVED the first movie. In the second, Ben is still with Abigail (played by Diane Kruger)...except only part-way. She's questioning their relationship and Ben is too. In THIS movie, the main concern is that the Gates name (that Ben fought so hard to protect in the past) is once again in question in the public eye. Apparently, a Gates relative was found to be responsible for Lincoln's assassination. Not so, said Ben - and he and Riley (played by Justin Bartha) and his father (played by Jon Voight) are out to set the record straight.

With trips from Washington DC to Paris to London to Rapid City, South Dakota - this movie takes all new twists and turns and offers the same excitement and adventure (and a bit of fantasy) that the first National Treasure gave to us. This one is just a little more shy on the actual "history" though, which made me give it a lower rating than the first. But then again, even a "less than steller" historical archaeological adventure movie rates higher than another movie about something like...I don't know...mutant turtles or something.
