Jumanji is another one of those "inspirations" that comes from having a young person in the house who feels like they should have a major say in the 365 Experiment. :) As her adoring fan, of course I acquiesce quite often.
Jumanji is all about games. Robin Williams stars as Alan Parrish, a young boy with bully troubles. Bonnie Hunt is Sarah Whittle, one of Alan's friends from school. Alan finds a game and asks Sarah to play. They begin an adventure into the scary, frightening and down-right petrifying. Jumanji is the game, and complete lack of reason is the subject of the game.
As Alan and Sarah play, something happens and Alan disappears. Sarah becomes frightened and runs out. Then we meet another young boy and another young girl about 30 years later who find the game in the attic. Alan Parrish's family has since left the home and now new people movie in. Kirsten Dunst plays Judy Shepherd and Bradley Pierce plays Peter Shepherd. Judy tells wildly embellished stories and Peter doesn't speak. Their parents were killed in a crash and they live with their aunt in the old Parrish place. After beginning the game, Peter and Judy run into Sarah and Alan - and they all have the play the game until the end.
Stampeding animals, monkeys, spiders, a hunter and a plethora of other creatures and wild adventures with an eventual end to the insanity when Alan finally rolls to end the game. Everything is whipped back to normal...and Sarah and Alan find themselves back in 1960 - everything restored to normal. Judy and Peter haven't been born yet and Alan and Sarah figure out a way to put them back into their lives for the first time.
