National Geographic: King Tuts Final Secrets - 2005

Egyptology just happens to be one of my passions. I have seen just about every documentary Dr. Zahi Hawass has starred in, although I somehow managed to miss this one until last night.

Several teams of scientists are allowed to examine the mummified remains of King Tutankhamen. They look very deeply into the circumstances surrounding his death - investigating the supposed ideas of why and how it happened to a man so prominent and yet so young.

Most of the usual details were discussed - enlarged head, hole in back of skull, ankle problems - ironically, they also found something new in the scans. They were able to find something new. Apparently there were some very serious injuries to his knee that they were able to determine held a much stronger case for the actual cause of death.

Documentaries about ancient civilizations - especially Egypt - will always have a special place in my archaeologist-wannabes heart. Someday I know I will have the chance to walk through the pyramids at Giza. Until then, I will have to continue to placate myself with being Dr. Hawass's friend on Facebook and watching more and more documentaries. :)
