Who doesn't go a little gooey when they hear Kathleen Turner's voice? I mean, she sounds like a man...man.
Romancing the Stone is about a single novelist named Joan who lives her life inside her stories. She's invented this fictitious (literally - HA...LITerally!) man named "Jesse" who is the hero of all of her romance novels and of course she's fallen for the IDEA of someone like him.
She lives a simple and protected life until suddenly she receives a call that her sister Elaine is in trouble and being held hostage in Columbia and her brother-in-law has been killed for the contents of a package that she was about to receive in her mailbox. She boards the next plan for South America.
Once in Columbia, she runs into her own personal "Jesse" - except his name is Jack. She can't stand him and he can't stand her - still, for a price, he offers to help her find the people she's looking for. They weave in and out of danger and both soon find themselves falling for each other. The crux? Well, Jack likes his anonymity and famous author Joan Wilder needs to be back in New York City to meet with her publicist. Tune in to see if love prevails.
