Monty Python and the Holy Grail - 1975

I will never forget when I was first introduced to Monty Python. It was my freshman year of college and I was in my first acting class. We had been invited to a classmates hovel...I mean house...off campus. I hitched a ride with a friend and walked into the tiny place. We all snugged in together on the beat up couch and the old wooden floor with the nobby nails and ancient oriental rug and sat in front of the television. Someone plugged in a video tape and I was astounded with what I saw - mini-sketch after sketch of hysterical comedy - it was hysterical because it was unfunny at times - and just silly at other times. I felt an awakening occur inside me...and suddenly I knew that I was not alone in my crazy sense of humor. There were others out there too.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a tongue-in-cheek attempt at Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. It comes off as more unique, more low-budget but also more humerous than any OTHER attempts I have seen at the epic tale of Arthur. There are TOO MANY lines, sentences, sayings and quips from this movie that have been smooshed into my vernacular. Watch this and I can almost guarantee you'll be looking for excuses to use some of the phrases with friends. It's definately more of a FRIENDS movie than a couples movie...but I think that also depends on the couple. :)

I tried to watch this last night with the "at arms length" attitude that would allow me to forget the fact that it has so many attachments for me with a great group of people I was very close to in Texas. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do that. In THIS movie's case, it will forever be attached to my "family" on the U.S.S. Joshua starship. IT'S JUST A FLESH WOUND!!!!!
