Pageant - 2008

A fascinating look into the behind-the-scenes details of the Miss Gay America pageant.

Early on, my favorite was Pork Chop. A portly guy from the south, Pork Chop discusses with brutal honesty his very first attempt at a pageant. He even pulls some pictures out. He said he came in 3rd runner up on a 4 person show. :) It doesn't get much more honest than that! Pork Chop had a style that was so unique. He wasn't all about the glitz, he was about truly embodying a woman - and selling it too. It wasn't a surprise to me (but it WAS a delight) when he placed in the final 10. I'll let you watch the actual movie to see his final placement! :)

The film makers also introduce us to four others also vying for the title of Miss Gay America. Many of the contestants were frequent returnees to the pageant circuit. Some were even well-known prior to going...one even starred as Reba McEntire! Most were absolutely polished and gorgeous on their talent performances. Those who weren't could really take a lesson from the others. There were some colder, calculated individuals there, but I think that it was very obvious that bigger the heart, the more beautiful the woman!
