Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm was a darling example of Shirley Temple at her best - and it was also a sweet story about a talented little girl living with her step father barely making ends meet.
Rebecca is taken to try out for a new radio show and she auditions and REALLY impresses the higher-ups. Unfortunately, Rebecca and her step father misunderstand and left the audition empty handed (or so they thought). The step father drags her to her Aunt Miranda's for her to live on the farm. Rebecca loves the farm and enjoys being with her auntie and cousin. The funny thing is, the owner of the radio show ends up having a country home next door to Aunt Miranda's!
Soon everything is figured out - two and two is put together and Rebecca ends up starring in the radio show after all - and that's when her step father decides that he needs to come back into Rebecca's life - after all, she's got money now. So he comes back with a new mom for Rebecca and takes her away from the home she loves.
With a little quick thinking and an accomplice or two, Rebecca ends up setting everything right - because she's VERY SELF RELIANT! ;) All in all, a GREAT movie to watch with a young girl...Shirley Temple was 8 when she did this movie!
