Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunately Events - 2004

It's getting to be that time of year again. The time of year where Emmy wants to watch "scary" movies. :) Everything even slightly scary seems to be on the unofficial viewing list for her this season...so any time I ask for her suggestions, she's excited to offer them.

For those adults who never saw this movie, it's basically somewhat like Harry Potter except more mysterious and a bit darker. It's about the Baudelaire orphans - one older girl named Violet, one middle boy named Klaus and little Sunny the baby sister. They are very wealthy - the parent's died leaving them a big fortune. Unfortunately, they have an evil uncle, Count Olaf who will stop at nothing to get their money.

In one scene, Olaf pretends to be a charming boyfriend to Aunt Josephine and ends up fooling only her while going after the children in a boat in the middle of the water. Eventually, he even attempts to MARRY poor young Violet in a faux play happening at his house. Count Olaf is pure evil - and just character enough to make everyone shudder.
