So I cannot evening begin to compare THIS Alice in Wonderland to the LAST Disney's Alice in Wonderland that I saw. Why? Well, one's animated and the other was psudo animated.
No, seriously, you can never compare live action to animation. I have to be honest. I actually saw this movie shortly before I started the experiment. I was really put off by it the first time and I was curious if watching it a second time and reviewing it would result in a more positive reaction. It really did.
This movie follows Alice on her trip through the hole and into Wonderland. Tim Burton did a fabulous (again) job creating and designing the type of wonderland that I doubt we'll be able to get out of our minds when reading Louis Carroll going forward. Burton's colors and costuming and casting are always so vivid and yet controlled. This was no exception.
What I was first put off by the most when I viewed it initially is oddly what draws me to it with the second viewing. THE QUIRKYNESS. I kind of dreaded it the first time and this time I let myself be a little more laid-back and I just laughed and enjoyed it. A good lesson. :)
