(For Thursday) Miracle on 34th Street - 1994

No, this isn't the original (which I actually prefer, but didn't know that until I saw this version) - but this was the one on television so it worked with our schedule.

Little Mara Wilson steals the movie, of course...as the unbelieving child Susan Walker. Susan's mom taught her at a young age that Santa doesn't exist - and neither do any other things she cannot herself see. Susan runs into Santa as the OLD Santa gets kicked out of his position as Macy's Day Parade Santa (for drunkenness) and NEW Santa (the REAL Santa) steps in.

Soon, Santa and Susan become dear friends. Susan begins to let herself believe. She asks him for an impossible Christmas gift and he says he will try. By the end of the movie, Santa makes it through a major law suit and helps get Susan's mother and a kind man together to give Susan a family Then he gets Susan's mom a raise - which allows them to get the home of their dreams for the holiday. After Emmy watched this, she wanted to make sure that I knew that she believed again. ;)
