Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, Vera Ellen and Danny Kaye = a recipe for an amazing classic Christmas movie. Some people believe that the song "White Christmas" was written FOR the movie - but actually, a very much unknown movie called "Holiday Inn" was the first movie that Irving Berlin actually WROTE the song White Christmas FOR. It's a beautiful movie too - definately worth watching.
In White Christmas, we're introduced to two twosomes. The boys, played by Kaye and Crosby, are two former army buddies-turned-entertainers. The girls, played by Clooney and Ellen are a sister performing act who meet up with the boys as they're on the run to Vermont - ironically, the same direction the boys are headed.
After arriving in Vermont with the expectations that this will be a wonderful snowy Christmas, they are surprised to find a desolate inn and a very summery winter. They start dreaming up ideas to help out the inn owner (who happens to be the boy's old army sergeant) who wants to see the inn filled to the rafters with guests for the Christmas holiday. Luckily, the boys have connections and all four of them have talent to spare. A heartwarming and enjoyable movie for all ages.
