Burt Reynolds used to be the kind of guy women swooned over. I should know, I remember my mom had a Cosmo magazine with a mostly-naked Burt Reynolds on it - just wrapped in a satin sheet.
I flashed back in time to the 1970's when mustaches were big and trans am's were bigger. Talking on a CB radio made you UBER cool, wearing a western shirt made from a silky polyester material and basset hounds in semi trucks were a dime a dozen (sorry Fred).
The movie tells the story of BANDIT - a sexy and dangerous (HA!) guy riding the roads in his black trans am, escaping the law and making his own rules. Of course I always liked Jerry Reid's character better - something about a law-abiding family man with a dog in his cab that made me like the heck outta him and resent the heck out of Bandit. And of course I just rolled my eyes at Frog. I would have been a waaaay better Frog than Sally Field did.
