(For Tuesday 2/22) You, Me and Dupree - 2006

It seems to me like Kate Hudson does a butt-load of buddy comedies where she plays the ultra-cool and understanding girlfriend to the uptight, stick-up-his-rear boyfriend. You, Me and Dupree is just another example of that.

Owen Wilson plays "Dupree" - a quirky best friend of the groom. He becomes a life-long house guest that they love to hate. Dupree's overbearing personality grates on pretty much everyone except his girlfriend (enter awkward sex scene here) and all the kids in the neighborhood - who think he's a superstar.

Pretty soon, Dupree starts taking over where his best friend is leaving off - at least in his best friend's mind. He's getting more attention from the female in the house and it seems like Dupree's wants and needs are getting filled first - at least as far as favorite dinners and special attention is concerned. Rather than take this for what it is (extreme kindness in hopes it will help encourage Dupree to leave), instead it becomes a major sticking point in a relationship that has seen it's better days. Ever have a leech in your life? You'll appreciate this movie!
