Jackie Chan ROCKS. Sorry, just had to get that out.
This was really a terrific Friday Night Family movie! It was fun for all of us and had something for everyone - spying, dangerous fight scenes, kids playing tricks on grownups, a mom working hard to take care of her children, a messy house, carpooling to school - they did a great job finding things to help people really identify with SOMETHING in the movie.
Jackie Chan is Bob Ho - a CIA agent on loan from the Chinese. He is a deadly weapon and catches a dangerous criminal within the first few minutes of the movie - and then he retires. We learn soon that he's in love with a single mom - and he wants to settle down, marry her and live happily ever after. The unfortunate part is that her three children can't stand Bob. He gets the opportunity to try and bring them over to his side when she has to leave town suddenly and he ends up being a mister mom. Of course the bad guy escapes and Bob Ho is put back on notice.
One of the greatest scenes in the movie is in the kitchen when the children are getting ready for breakfast. Mom makes pancakes and bacon and the littlest girl, 4-year old Nora, feeds bacon to the family pet pig. EW, I know. But completely hysterical!
