This is magically wonderfully 80's. Are you looking for a super example of the male/female 80's matching mullet cut? White jeans with leg warmers? Totally tubular 80's music? John Travolta TOTALLY cut on the big screen? Well, your wishes have come true - and it's all thanks to this ONE STAR movie.
Two of a Kind is a movie about two people who are searching for the right path in life. A struggling actress/bank teller and inventor run into each other when the inventor (played by John Travolta) decides to rob the bank teller (Olivia Newton John)out of desperation. Instead of handing the money over, the teller gives him a bag of papers and envelopes - and she pockets the missing money. The two meet again and decide (with the help of some angels) that they are perfect for each other - but not before going to jail and getting shot.
Of course there's a lot of corn to sift through in this movie - sometimes it makes it a little hard to stomach. I was a BIG fan of this movie when I was young - so I tuned in half from nostalgia and half to see if it was as bad as the critics said. The thing is, there's a lot of rewind sequences (where they actually run the tape backwards) and two plots - since the angels are trying to save mankind by getting the two people together. You have to really want to stick with it, but the fact that it's charming to see "Sandy and Danny" on the screen together again AND the fact that there's not a lot of adult situations and even a God thing going on, well, it makes up for the corn.
