This docudrama (as described by the history channel) basically covers what would happen if it was determined that a massive virus had taken over the US. We meet a very ambitious EMT and his wife and son as they attempt to navigate a disease-ridden Los Angeles and the surrounding areas as they try and escape to Idaho to start a new life.
What makes things extra interesting is that they have this massive uprising of self-government and violent yahoos who are trying to impart martial law in the middle of their escape. Of course they also don’t have food, water, supplies – and what little bit they DID have at the start they had to shed in order to escape the city. They also learn to beg, borrow and steal the supplies they need along the way.
This was a “potential scenario” docudrama – and to be honest, I would have turned the channel except Emmy was totally excited about the idea of learning a bunch of survival techniques. We did learn how to purify water and shoot rednecks – so I guess it was educational. I do feel like if there was a serious disaster - Emmy would be a rock star. Me on the other hand, yeah…not so much. But I would know how to hug everyone!
