(For Tuesday 4/26) Chicago - 2002

So I guess I was one of about 34 million people who had NOT seen Chicago until last night.

Chicago is a musical that sneaks up on you. No matter who you are walking into it, you just know that it *is* a musical - I mean, it was marketed as that. But the beginning is actually extremely disarming. You're taken on a ride - and they do a great job of swinging you to and fro in the car they stuff you in and for a brief time you wonder which direction you're actually going (much like the boat trip in Willy Wonka)and when you finally think you're going the direction you think you're going, you spin around and realize you're no where you thought you were.

The musical numbers were outstanding, the songs wonderful and I actually decided to download a couple of the songs on iTunes.

Chicago is definitely a movie that you should watch with adults only - as there are adult situations, but if you want a part-musical, part-gangster, part-carnival ride, part prison flick, you've found magic with this movie.
