Don Knotts stars as small-town rocket ride operator Roy Flemming. His dad is a WWI veteran who Roy believes great things about, until finding out he served his country, albeit respectively, from a librarian's seat. Roy's father has high hopes for Roy though - wanting him to "make good" so he fills out an application for Roy to get into NASA's space program. What he DOESN'T know when he receives the acceptance letter is that the spot they're offering Roy is not for the job of ASTRONAUT, but rather JANITOR.
Roy gets on a bus (he's frightened of planes) and heads to NASA - thinking he's about to try and get over his fear of heights in an all-fired hurry. He ends up mopping the changing room instead. Roy stays there - and works - as his family mistakenly believe he is getting ready to see the stars, he's actually scrubbing floors. Roy, in his defense, keeps trying to set everyone straight. Unfortunately, they're too busy having celebrations in his honor to listen to the truth.
One day, Roy's polishing the floor in the giant computer room and sees his father and his friends walking through the NASA gate. They're there to surprise Roy. He gives them a tour and manages to destroy or maim half NASA's space program. They fire Roy and his father (and the friends) find out Roy's been living a lie. But, just as you believe all hope is lost, ROY SAVES THE DAY! How? Watch the movie - you'll find out!
This one's perfect for ALL ages!
