Once upon a time in a city called New Orleans, there was a place called Storyville. This is where Jazz found it's roots and it was also a tiny little place where prostitution, gambling, cheating, stealing and lying was a natural way of life.
This documentary, while not safe for the little guys, is chock full of photos, amazing storytelling from folks that were either there or knew someone who was there and incredible and frank discussions about the oldest profession and when it was legal in Louisiana.
If you enjoy history, quirky documentaries, stories about women and what they went through to survive if they were single and trying to make it on their own in the early 1900's in the never-ending world of debauchery - you WILL love this documentary. I watched it feeling so proud of these girls who lived a very coarse life but somehow managed to wrestle a little joy from it.
