Back in the late 1960's when people were looking for a way to live together in commune with nature and nurture, a bunch of brazen hippies went to all different celebrities in Los Angeles and begged for money on the pretense that there were a lot of people buying their albums and paying to see their movies and they needed to give back.
This resulted in a group of people with a finite amount of money to spend and an old ranch for sale...enter BLACK CREEK RANCH...a place that was known as "free land for free people". Individuals from all over came together in that one place to create and live a bold life as one of a group of people rather than many singular people.
This documentary explores the strange trip that was the history of Black Creek, showing how its far-reaching influence on members and citizens of the past and present has an effect on how people interact with society and how sometimes a dream for everyone working together for the greater good doesn't lead to utopia, but instead leads to a confusing but dependency on capitalism and "the man". If you watch one documentary about communes, make it this one. :)
