(For Tuesday 6/21) Girl Happy - 1965

An Elvis movie? I have never watched one before...but I may as well slip one in for good measure now before this blog is OVAH...yeah, it's actually coming right up on that time too.

So what struck me as the funniest thing about this movie is that Emily said "Mom, who's playing Elvis in this movie?" *crickets* "Um, Elvis is..." "Oh. Okay." :)

So this movie is alllll about Elvis himself except he's NOT Elvis, he's playing some guy named Rusty who has a band that plays in a club in Chicago. In the mid-winter, they head towards Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where the days are warm and the bikinis are skimpy. Well, not THAT skimpy...it was the 1960's. Before he leaves, the club owner tells him he better keep an eye on his daughter while the band is down there. Once Elvis and the band make it down to the coast and Elvis ends up girl hunting and crushing on several beauties. He slowly sees though that the club owners troublesome daughter ends up being his dream come true.

This movie is filled with catchy songs, humorous interludes and momentary lapses of reason that could make the most die-hard, anti-elvis fan smile. I should know, I used to be one!
