Everyone should have the chance to personally vouch for a movie that everyone else panned. People should take them seriously when they tell them "No...really, this movie is seriously good!". If this was possible, Saving Silverman would be my movie-of-choice to vouch for.
Even if you don't like Jack Black, Steve Zhan, Jason Biggs or Amanda Peet - chances are you will LOVE the super-secret star of this movie - NEIL DIAMOND. Who doesn't L-O-V-E NEIL? :) This movie is all about three BEST guy friends (Black, Zhan and Biggs) who have an incredible friendship. One night, this starts to crumble when Bigg's character, "Darren" meets Peet's character, "Judith" in a bar. A reluctant relationship begins between the two and the "3 Musketeers" friendship starts to end - by edict from evil-girlfriend Peet. In order to save the friendship, Black and Zhan start planning and plotting and end up exacting revenge on Peet and help Biggs forget about the lost relationship by organizing a date for Biggs with his high school sweetheart who is about to become a nun.
The zany mishaps, crazy plot turns and catchy NEIL DIAMOND songs woven throughout this movie make me smile again today, just thinking about last night. I absolutely recommend this movie to ANY adult who enjoys the American Pie/Can't Hardly Wait/ Shallow Hal/Hot Rod type of movie. I don't ever get sick of this movie. It sits in my head and I laugh even days after seeing it. Give it a chance - I promise you won't feel like your time has been wasted.
