Avatar - 2009

So, I was the only person left on earth who hadn't seen Avatar yet besides Jeff and Emmy. We decided to fix that last night.

I have to say, the visuals were fabulous - just like everyone said. The storyline was good...the acting was good...everything was pretty good...um...it wasn't like THE GREATEST THING EVER though. Am I the only one who thought that?

Avatar was about a physically disabled Marine who just lost his (twin?) brother. Apparently the brother spent YEARS studying up on being an experiment. It was time to start the 'speriment so they called on the brother-still-alive to take his place. So off he goes...literally into the wild blue yonder (ha!) and becomes an Avatar. Jake learns everything about being a Na'vi (navy?) in order to help some bad guys mine for some sort of super-valuable resource. Only, the Na'vi think of it as even MORE valuable than the bad guys. Jake begins to treasure his time as an Avatar more than his real life. He is sleep deprived, food deprived, but loving his alternate reality. He begins to think, live and love like a Na'vi. In turn, they accept and trust him. He falls in love and mates (eek!) with a Na'vi too. Then he saves everyone. The end. Well, okay, not EVERYONE. But he saves a bunch of people and becomes an Avatar. Now, the end. Yep. That's it. I really liked the plants and trees though!
