King was 39 when he died. THIRTY-NINE. Seriously? I am getting ready to turn 38. I am really humbled.
This documentary had video and interviews seldom seen before now. There was one especially that touched me. Dr. King was brought out on stage with two middle-aged news talking heads. They were interviewing him about his views on Vietnam. I found it so interesting to see the difference between how people are interviewed today and how they were interviewed then. Granted, the Civil Rights movement was still in process - but they showed Dr. King little respect and asked him very TOUGH questions. He was the epitome of grace and style though...and he answered every question brilliantly.
It really was interesting to see the newsreels and a lot of the information that had somehow lost it's way to me over the years. Having had the history classes I did...the background I did...this documentary was more than just an hour about a famous figure in history - it was a history LESSON.
