(For Thursday 5/12) Nuts in May - 1976

Meh. British MADE FOR TV movie set in the 1970's. I selected this one because it LOOKED good. Not so much - although it had it's redeeming moments, primarily I only bothered watching it through the end because I HAD to. I hate that.

We meet Keith and Candace Marie - a couple I am still trying to figure out why and how ended up together in the first place. They're off on Holiday and they decide to camp it. We see a plethora of camping equipment - and of course they're vegetarians so there are so many health food references - which also become pretty tongue-in-cheek when we discover things like decisions to drink untreated milk when neither even understands what happens in the pasteurization process. Keith is controlling and Candace Marie is infantile and the other people they run into on their trip are of course caricatures of themselves and their standard personality types.

They called it a "masterpiece" about "social and economic differences between classes" in Britain. Well, it wasn't gripping, interesting or exciting. I just found it lacking. I know some will enjoy the quiet wit - me, personally, I need a little more to grab onto than quiet wit. Some reviewers liken this guy to Vonnegut. Hmmmm....I would not consider this British comedy in any sense of the word. More like British mediocrity.
